SEXTETO MILONGUERO
Sexteto Milonguero is an Argentine tango orchestra that was founded in 2006 in Buenos Aires, with the simple desire of offering a danceable repertoire, similar to that which is heard at milongas. This includes new interpretations of several orchestras with different styles, consisting of tangos, milongas and waltzes of the forties, the so-called Golden Age of Argentine tango.
These old and excellent tango classics are played with the typical and characteristic stamp of Sexteto Milonguero. Both sung and instrumental songs can be found among them. Besides, Sexteto Milonguero also plays some Argentine folklore pieces, as well as cuarteto, a music style which is very popular in Argentina.
Always with the goal of following the tradition of the greatest orchestras and keeping the proximity and contact with the original places of tango, of the dancers, of the men and of the milongas.
The relevant thing about this orchestra is that, with their vibrating music and the lively presence of their performances, they are able to get both dancers and non-dancers excited.
The orchestra performs regularly at the milongas in Buenos Aires and plays on numerous stages in the rest of the country, as well as other parts of South America (Brazil, Chile, Venezuela). In 2008 the group made its first European tour, after which they perform repeatedly in Belgium, France, Greece, Great Britain, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and the Czech Republic.
Sexteto Milonguero is integrated by seven members: Mauricio Jost (bandoneon), Diego Braconi (bandoneon), Marisol Canessa (violin), Mariano Laplume (violin), Cristian Sepúlveda (double bass), Gervasio Ledesma (piano) und Javier Di Ciriaco (voice).
Sexteto Milonguero’s concert will take place on Saturday, May 5th 2012 at Freiheizhalle.

HELENA JÜCKSTOCK
Accordion and voice
Helena Jückstock was born in Sarajevo and migrated to Munich in 1991, one year before the war. The accordion accompanies her since the age of six.
After her initial learning at a music school in Sarajevo, she continued an autodidactic training. Since 1992 music plays a more and more important role in her life.
In her interpretation of the different tangos is mirrored the kinship between the depth and melancholy of the East with the tragic substance of Argentine tango. This way, the beautifully understood songs carry the imprint of the Balkans, without moving away from tango.
Helena Jückstock will play and sing several of her pieces at the festival.
